ZODIAC was founded in July 2020 by Jade Phoenix Hoskins — Lady Phoenix, a Trans woman who looked at Camden and decided the community deserved better. Not just a place to drink. A home with its name on the door.
The permanent venue opened on 5 November 2021 at 119 Hampstead Road. What followed was five years of Trans Pride, drag cabarets, queer club nights, and the kind of Saturday evenings that people still talk about on Monday morning. Through a pandemic. Through financial pressure no independent venue should have to carry. Through every reason there could have been to close.
ZODIAC stayed open. Open. Trading. Fighting.
The community showed up. Over £300,000 raised for LGBTQ+ causes. Hundreds of events. Thousands of people who walked through those doors and called it theirs. On 9 May 2026, the doors opened again at noon. The community came home. This wasn't a launch. It was a return.
