We Make Camden Project Fund
Camden Council
£5k, £20k/yr
20 April, 1pm 19 days
Fit
£400k total fund, round 2. Open to Camden-based not-for-profit orgs with annual income under £500k. Priority: orgs led by or supporting marginalised communities incl. LGBTQ+. Must align with We Make Camden Missions. Apply via Plinth. Zodiac fits directly: LGBTQ+ cultural venue, 61% net loss of LGBTQ+ venues since 2007.
Zodiac Bar is an LGBTQ+ arts, culture, and nightlife venue in the King's Cross/Camden area. We serve as a safe community space for London's queer community, hosting cultural programming, live events, and creative exhibitions. Our venue features pop-art-inspired interiors, pixel art installations, and Keith Haring-style murals, functioning as much as a gallery as a bar. We are undertaking a structured operational turnaround under new Fractional CEO leadership to ensure long-term viability as a cultural asset in Camden.
Community programming including LGBTQ+ cultural events, open-mic nights, drag performance, and workshops. Audience diversification initiatives. HubSpot CRM for engagement tracking. Physical accessibility improvements.
24+ events, 1500+ attendees, 4+ Camden partnerships, volunteer hours tracked.
Not-for-profit, Camden-based, annual income under £500k. Priority to smaller orgs and those led by/supporting LGBTQ+, disabled, and marginalised communities. Assessed on: Camden Missions alignment, Inclusion and Equality, Project proposal and impact.
Community Partnerships Team: vcs@camden.gov.uk // 020 7974 8901
Political lead: Cllr Nadia Shah, Cabinet Member for Voluntary Sector, Equalities and Cohesion

CIC Strategy
Do not make partnerships.community a CIC. A CIC imposes an asset lock and community interest test on everything the company does. That constrains your commercial consulting business across all clients, not just Zodiac.

Five grants totalling £140k+ are addressable right now with no structural changes. If the parked grants become worth pursuing later, register a purpose-built "Zodiac Community Arts CIC" (£27, 1-2 weeks) that runs programming at the venue. Keep partnerships.community as your commercial vehicle.
